10 things you must-see in Trento… according to the Hotel Everest

For those that experience the city everyday like us choosing just 10 things you must-see in Trento and the surrounding area is rather complicated… but here is our selection of places and activities not to be missed.

The MUSE and the Albere neighbourhood

The MUSE is the Trento Science Museum: here science and research encounter nature and in particular the mountain environment. What’s the common thread? Sustainability and innovation. Before you dive in take some time to observe the architecture, designed entirely by the famous architect Renzo Piano. The outside of the building is shaped like the Trentino mountains.
The museum is located in the Albere neighbourhood designed by the same architect. This area harmoniously integrates green space with residential buildings, offices and shops; furthermore, it is designed to use resources efficiently and sustainably. To achieve this there are large glass windows that favour natural lighting and, at the same time, are a distinctive aesthetic element of the neighbourhood.
How to get there from the Hotel Everest. The MUSE can be reached on foot in half an hour or you can shorten the walk by taking one of the numerous buses in the city.

Castello del Buonconsiglio

One of the 10 things to see in Trento is definitely the Castello del Buonconsiglio: one of the most important monuments in the city. In addition to appreciating the building in historical and artistic terms you can visit the museum: the castle has both permanent and temporary collections.

Piazza Duomo and its historical buildings

Piazza Duomo is the most important and most beautiful and impressive square in the city. It is striking with its historical buildings: Saint Vigilius’ Cathedral, famous for having hosted the Council of Trent in the XVI century and Palazzo Pretorio with the Torre Civica. Also noteworthy are the fountains: the fountain of Neptune that rises from the centre of the square and the smaller more lateral Eagle fountain. The frescoed houses and centuries-old porticoes complete the atmosphere.

Piazza Fiera

Piazza Fiera is a large rectangular square in the centre of the city. It has a centuries-old history as a place of commerce and a venue for events and is still one of the main places in the city: it often hosts markets, fairs and festivals making it a lively and animated place. The backdrop to these city moments are the mountains and the ancient walls of the city which were once used for defence and to mark the city limits.
