Family Secrets

Family Secrets

Where do we like to go when we have free time to spend in the city? We will tell you a few family secrets: places, bars and restaurants, and green spaces where we go every time we have the chance.

Parks: green spaces in the city

Nature is one of the best aspects of Trento… even when you stay in the city!

The Bosco della Città

In Parco di San Rocco, you can see the city from above, relax on the benches, have a picnic or walk along the various paths surrounded by vegetation.

Parco Gocciadoro

Parco Gocciadoro is also a place we recommend, it has a children’s playground and sports facilities such as a volleyball pitch and ping-pong tables.

Lungadige

If you are not a fan of parks but you want to experience nature, we recommend a walk along the Lungadige: walking alongside the river is always relaxing and you can stop off at the MUSE to enjoy the green spaces in the Le Albere neighbourhood.

Giro al Sas: as Trento as it gets!

The expression “Far en giro al sas” in the Trentino dialect means a stroll around the centre: walking through the pedestrian streets, looking at the shop windows and stopping to have a coffee in one of the many bars. It is especially recommended at the weekend when Trento is filled with stalls and when Piazza Fiera comes alive with one of its many events.
If walking around the city for you means a spot of shopping… don’t miss via Mazzini, where among the many shops you can find Lunelli, the shop that sells local products and La Sportiva, the Trentino brand of sporting goods and articles for the mountains.
Is the sun beginning to set while you are walking around? We recommend Largo Carducci for an aperitif!

For sportier types…

High-altitude itineraries, outdoor experiences, dedicated spaces… we also love Trento for the attention it pays to sport.

The Viote Plateau on Monte Bondone

When you are in Trento you are in the city yet at the same time you feel surrounded by nature that is just a stone’s throw away… An example? Monte Bondone that provides lots of possibilities all year round.
We recommend you reach the Viote Plateau on the mountain at an altitude of around 1500 metres above sea level. From here you can reach three peaks Monte Bondone, Monte Cornetto, Doss d’Abramo and Cima Verde: there are lots of possibilities for excursions and walks.

Climbing Doss Trento

From Doss Trento you can see the city from above… but not far away: you can admire the views and try to spot buildings and areas in the city. On the Doss you can visit the Mausoleum of Cesare Battisti and the National History Museum of Alpine Soldiers.

SanbàPolis Climbing Gym

For those that love climbing the SanbàPolis Climbing Gym is truly paradise: more than two thousand square metres of climbing walls where you get a good workout. It is located a little way outside the centre but well worth the visit.

… and for food lovers

The city is full of restaurants where you can get a good meal. The Ristorante Due Mori Antica  Trattoria is perfect to try traditional local cuisine such as salted meat with strangolapreti- a type of gnocchi made with breadcrumbs and spinach.
A real gem is the Restaurant al Vo’: the oldest restaurant in Trento; we like it because like our hotel it is a family run business. Warning: it is only open at lunch time!
The Osteria a Le due Spade restaurant is a more refined alternative; we recommend to reserve a table because it has a limited number of seats and is very popular.
